Preferences Affect Only the Current Session and Server

All of the following preferences affect only pages in your current session on dsbs.sba.gov. If your session takes you to a different server, any preferences you set on dsbs.sba.gov won't be on that server. (You would have to set them again.) Also, once you log out, or close all browser windows, your session is cleared. When you return, you would have to set these preferences again, because they are not remembered across multiple sessions.

Last but not least, all of the following preferences affect only future pages you go to, not already-loaded pages. So to affect the current page, use your browser's "Refresh" or "Reload" button. The following are examples of what it may look like: Internet Explorer's refresh icon uses 2 arrows. Firefox and Chrome's reload icons are almost the same. Safari's reload icon is somewhat smaller.

Please Choose

Text-Only / Graphics Mode

Switching to text-only mode can be used to speed up page loads if you have a slower connection to the Internet, such as dial-up. Generally, this option affects only shared graphics used by all systems. Some systems may have graphics that are not affected by this option.

Suppress Rich Text Editors

Some pages have rich text editors that allow easily styling text. (See "Examples", below.) In some screen readers for the blind, it's possible to get stuck in a rich text editor using the keyboard alone. (That is, tabbing does not take you to the next field, but instead loops through controls of the editor, circularly.) That's called a "keyboard trap". If you're using such a screen reader, it may be necessary to suppress rich text editors and enter style information manually using HTML tags instead.
